Barbara Billington

Currently, Barbara teaches beginning secondary science teachers and elementary teachers at the University of Minnesota’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), with a focus on student‐centered, culturally relevant, gender equitable, anti-racist, inquiry‐based instruction.  She is passionate about helping educators become aware of the hidden messages that students hear in their in-school and out-of-school STEM experiences. Her belief is that when educators work explicitly to teach in equitable ways, all students benefit; and all students can begin to see themselves as engineers, scientists, mathematicians and technology experts.
