Rebecca Shlafer

Assistant Professor, Pediatrics

Assistant Professor Rebecca Shlafer, PhD, MPH is an expert in pediatrics and adolescent health with a focus on developmental outcomes of children and families with multiple risk factors. She is particularly interested in life course and outcomes for children with incarcerated parents. Dr. Shlafer is also a co-founder of the Minnesota Prison Doula Project, through which the University provides resources and financial support to pregnant women who are incarcerated and supports evidence-based research designed to benefit the target population and the facilities. Along with Professor Moriearty, Dr. Shlafer is also part of a University IAS collaboration that is working with and funded by the MN Dept of Corrections to establish a "college in prison" program in Minnesota.
