Jessica Gutknecht

Assistant Professor in the Department of Soil, Water and Climate

Jessica Gutknecht is an assistant professor in the department of Soil, Water and Climate. Her research focus lies in understanding ecosystem scale processes through the lens of soil microbial ecology. With both her research and teaching she has a special interest in understanding how a soil ecological perspective can inform our understanding of ecosystem responses to climate change. She is a currently working at two large global change experiments, one in a California annual grassland and one in a northern Minnesota Spruce peatland, both of which are interdisciplinary, premier experiments. Dr. Gutknecht is also a reviewer for the International Panel on Climate Change and can thus speak to our global state of understanding of the ecological consequences of climate change.
