Katie Loth

Department of Family Medicine & School of Public Health

Katie Loth, PhD, MPH, RD, is an assistant professor at The University of Minnesota with a primary appointment in the Department of Family Medicine and an adjunct appointment in the School of Public Health. She is both a faculty researcher and a dietitian at the University of Minnesota North Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program; in these roles she focuses on the prevention and reduction of obesity, disordered eating, and other weight-related problems in young people. Her programmatic line of research has focused on the social and environmental influences on the weight status and weight-related behaviors of individuals from ethnically/racially diverse and low-income backgrounds. Dr. Loth's multidisciplinary training in nutrition, public health, epidemiology, childhood obesity and eating disorders, mixed methods, and methodological research positions her to teach about chronic disease prevention in unique and innovative ways.
