Mark Swackhamer

Associate Professor in the School of Architecture

Mark Swackhamer heads the Architecture department and a local design firm, HouMinn, in collaboration with Dr. Blaine Brownell. He co-authored the book "Hypernatural: Architecture’s New Relationship with Nature," the topic of a graduate course he teaches on biomimetics in architecture.

Student work from this effort won a 2007 national education award and was a finalist in the "Biomimicry Student Design Challenge," sponsored by the Biomimicry 3.8 Institute in 2013.
