Linda Kinkel

Professor in Plant Pathology

Linda Kinkel is a professor in Plant Pathology. Her research is focused on the ecology of plant-associated micro-organisms, especially antibiotic-producing bacteria, in native prairie and agricultural soils. She is especially interested in developing strategies for managing the ecology and evolution of soilborne microbial populations to reduce plant disease in cropping systems. Her work is also focused on characterizing the spatial and temporal dynamics of plant microbiomes, including both fungi and bacteria, and understanding their roles in mediating plant disease in natural and managed landscapes.
