Rivers and Cities: Meeting Future Demands on Urban Water Systems

Ensuring access to sufficient and safe water is one of the grand challenges of the 21st century. As the world's population urbanizes, cities are at the leading edge of conflicts over water. We will evaluate changing demands on urban rivers, tracing this evolution as a hallmark of global urbanization, and challenge students to articulate their understanding of water management to local citizens and devise creative visions for better management of water.
